Ainmhithe Animal Rescue is a small independent sanctuary that has been taking care of abandoned and neglected animals in County Mayo in the West of Ireland since 1998. We pride ourselves on our no-kill policy, which means that the animals in our care stay with us for as long as it takes to find them their forever homes.


Our Mission

The overall aim of Ainmhithe is that all dogs, cats and equines have permanent, loving homes. We wish to educate members of the general public to have a responsible and positive attitude towards animals and their welfare

Ainmhithe actively searches for permanent, quality homes for our dogs, cats and equines. The Ainmhithe website and Facebook page provides current, up-to-date information on our dogs and cats and information on all our work.

We actively support encourage and promote neutering and spaying of dogs and cats. We also which to improve the welfare of dogs, cats, horses and donkeys and other animals through general education of the public and through the running of education programmes for school children .
